CASE HARDNING

OBJECTIVE
High hardness. Good Tenacity

CARBURIZING PARAMETERS ARE DEPENDING ON

  • The requirements of superficial hardness and core resistance.
  • Steel quality.
  • Shape, dimensions and geometry of the part.

TYPES OF PARTS

  • Gears.
  • Pistons.
  • Bearings.
  • Connecting rods.
  • Forks.
  • Cogwheels.
  • Pinions.
  • Drive shafts.
  • Spindles.
  • Components.
  • Sintered parts.

CARBONITRIDING

PROCESS
This process is similar to the case hardening, but apart from the gases used in a case hardening treatment, Ammonia gas is added.

ADVANTAGES IN FRONT OF THE CASE HARDENING

  • The hardenability of the carbonitrided layer is increased.
  • It allows the replacement of high alloy steels by low alloy steels.
  • The hardening is less aggressive, so the possible distortions in the parts are minimized.
  • It allows greater tempering temperatures.
  • High wearing and corrosion resistance.

TYPES OF PARTS

  • Screws.
  • Fasteners.
  • Spherical joint.
  • All pieces of case hardering.
